The Orioles let Jeremy Guthrie face one batter in the third, and he retired Victor Martinez on a fly ball to center. Guthrie is charged with one run and three hits in 2 1/3 innings, with two walks and two strikeouts. He threw 51 pitches, 29 for strikes. Left-hander Chris George has replaced Guthrie. This is more like it. Brian Matusz needed only 10 pitches to dispose of the Twins in the second inning, including one to retire Chris Parmelee on a popup.
