Orioles 3, Pirates 2
Matt Albers stranded the tying run at second base to pick up the save.
Great job by the bullpen with 7 2/3 scoreless innings (Luis Lebron let an inherited runner score after replacing Brad Bergesen).
"We pitched real well," manager Dave Trembley said.
"Bergesen in the first inning was very good with the ground balls. Second inning, he got underneath some pitches. But we got his pich count up. Hendrickson was good, Ohman was good. We had very good pitching tonight.
"Mickolio let it go, Albers had some sink at the end."
Trembley didn't like the way Jason Berken threw in his first inning, but the right-hander made the necessary adjustments.
"He was up. Second inning he slowed himself down," Trembley said. "The first inning, he was jumping, balls were up. Second inning they were down."
Trembley also noticed that Bergesen was too quick in the second inning.
"I saw him when he got taken out of the game and he was running like he just got a 'get out of jail free' card," Trembley said. "Second inning he was really rushing. The first inning he was good. He was on top and got ground balls. Second inning he was up, he was underneath the pitches. He couldn't slow himself down."
