Game 126 lineups: Nats at Marlins

After suffering through a stretch of six straight outings in which he yielded at least four runs in each start, left-hander Patrick Corbin (7-12, 5.82 ERA) turned in a gem on Aug. 20 at Milwaukee, holding the playoff-bound Brewers to a run on three hits over 6 1/3 innings to pick up his first victory since July 7.

Now Corbin just has to do it again.

An aggressive young Marlins team will be the latest test for the southpaw's improved fastball velocity, which allows him to set up his slider. In his career, Corbin is 5-4 with a 3.84 ERA and 1.139 WHIP in 14 starts against the Fish, but he struggles at loanDepot Park (nee Marlins Park, and AKA other names), where he's 2-3 with a 5.66 ERA and 1.429 WHIP in six lifetime starts.

Thumbnail image for Corbin-Fires-Gray-ATL-Sidebar.jpgCurrent Marlins slash an aggregate .243/.319/.421 off Corbin, led by Miguel Rojas, who is 12-for-29 (.414) off him with two homers and five RBIs.

Righty Elieser Hernandez (0-1, 4:15 ERA) has been limited to four starts because of injuries including biceps tendinitis and quadriceps strain. He's yet to pitch more than 5 1/3 innings and in his last start Aug. 20 at Cincinnati, Hernandez allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. He's had little career success against the Nationals, going 1-2 with a 7.18 ERA and 1.481 WHIP in nine games (four starts).

The Nats have never homered off Hernandez, but current players have combined for a .333/.385/.500 log against him, led by Juan Soto, who is 4-for-12 with three doubles and three RBIs. Gerardo Parra is 3-for-7 (.429) off Hernandez.

Victor Robles is starting in center field and leading off today, his first start since Aug. 20.

Note: Right-hander Jefry Rodriguez, who was designated for assignment earlier this week, has cleared waivers and been assigned outright to Triple-A Rochester. He'll remain with the club, but not on the 40-man roster.
