I've put together some stats to see how the Orioles players have fared in their careers on Opening Day.
Right-hander Kevin Millwood will make his 7th career Opening Day start tonight. He is 2-4, 3.34 in previous openers.
Last year, Millwood and Texas whipped Cleveland and Cliff Lee 9-1 in the opener as Millwood allowed just one run over seven innings.
Millwood's Opening Day starts:
2003 - Philly at Fla: 6IP, 4H, 3R, 2ER, 1BB, 4K
2004 - Philly at Pitt: 6IP, 7H, 2R-ER, 0BB, 4K
2006 - Tex...

Manager Dave Trembley was asked earlier today whether he's confident that Mike Gonzalez will turn it up once the lights come on and the games count.
"Well, he's the closer," Trembley replied. "He's going to get the opportunity to save the games. If it's a save situation, he's going to pitch and I'm confident that he's going...
In suffering the blown save in the last of the 9th in Tampa's 4-3 win over the Orioles Tuesday, four of the five batters he faced reached vs. Mike Gonzalez. He threw 15 pitches, seven for strikes and gave up two runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Up until the 9th, the O's pen worked three scoreless innings and Tampa was 1 for 9 vs. the pen.
The Orioles fall to 35-22 all-time in openers. They lost on Opening Day for just the 3rd time in the last 11 games. They are 8-9 when opening on the road, now...
The bottom of the ninth set up nicely for new O's closer Mike Gonzalez. Tampa had the bottom of the lineup coming up.
But Gonzalez gave up a two-run single to Carl Crawford with the bases loaded and one out as Tampa stole the game from the Birds 4-3 on Opening Night at the Trop.
The O's offense had to rely on three solo homers on the night. The Birds just could not get the clutch hit to break this game before the ninth.
They went 1 for 12 tonight with runners in scoring position, but...
Never has that cliché seemed as gruesome as it does when you say it in Birdland....
But in any case, you can take care of two O's items in one swoop with the new exclusive T-shirts from the Right Side Foundation.
Nick and Christina Markakis's Right Side Foundation has announced a limited edition T-shirt sale to raise money for the right fielder's charitable foundation and the Babe Ruth Birthplace Foundation.
The orange Under Armour Tech T-shirts sport the Right Side...
Mike Gonzalez struck out Pat Burrell on a 93 mph fastball to start the ninth inning.
I guess he does turn it up once the lights are on.
Maybe that only applies to his velocity.
Sean Rodriguez singled and pinch-hitter Kelly Shoppach doubled to put runners on second and third - the ball coming within a few inches of clearing the fence for a walk-off home run. Gonzalez walked Jason Bartlett intentionally to load the bases, and Carl Crawford singled to right to score two runs.

Despite a tough schedule coming up, the Orioles hope that September will be a better month for them than August was.
The O's finished the month playing and pitching a little better and won six of the final 12 games in the month.
But overall, the Orioles lost 20 of 30 games in August.
Tonight they begin September by hosting the Yankees in game two of a three-game series.
David Hernandez (4-6, 4.24) will pitch vs. the Yankees A.J. Burnett...
There were a flurry of roster moves made today around the O's farm system.

O's manager Dave Trembley today said he expected Brian Matusz and Chris Tillman to each make "three starts maximum" before being shut down for the remainder of this season.
O's president Andy MacPhail also spoke about limiting appearances and innings for the rookie pitchers.
"With Brian you have to remember this is his first year of pro experience. He doesn't have the innings built up that even Chris Tillman or Berken or Hernandez have that have been pitching professionally. You...
RHP David Hernandez (4-6, 4.24) tonight makes his 14th start of the season, his 7th at home and his 2nd of the year vs. New York.
Hernandez did not get a decision in his last start vs. Cleveland when he gave up two runs over six innings.
Hernandez, 2009 season:
In July: 2-0, 2.45 in four starts
In August: 1-4, 5.83 in six starts
Right-handed batters hit .283 off Hernandez while lefties bat .271 and he gives up an average of just .156 when pitching with runners in scoring position.

Luke Scott hit a huge three-run homer, it was a bomb, but it didn't hit the Warehouse in case you were wondering.
He hit it 412 feet down the right-field line onto Eutaw Street, but it would have needed to go 439 feet to reach the Warehouse. Still, off the bat it made you wonder, that was crushed.
The three-run shot off A.J. Burnett in the fifth, gave the O's a 6-5 lead. It was Scott's 21st homer of the year.
It was the 52nd homer in Camden Yards history onto Eutaw Street and the 22nd...
ever learn to hit the cutoff man.
This is September and he is still making that basic mistake.
It just happened on A-Rod's RBI single in the sixth. Jones, with no shot to get a speedy runner at the plate, overthrew the cutoff man by 10 feet, allowing A-Rod to practically walk into second.
You wonder how mistakes like these happen time and time again.
It could have been very damaging in a close game.
Fortunately for the O's, Chris Ray struck out Posada and that play didn't hurt the team...
Adam Jones, lifted for a pinch runner in the bottom of the sixth, left the game with a sprained left ankle.
The O's have tied their season high tonight, giving up five homers. The Yankees have tied their season high, hitting five homers. It's the fourth time they have hit five in a game.
A-Rod didn't homer. Neither did Derek Jeter. Or Johnny Damon or Mark Teixeria.
Still the New York Yankees hit five homers in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Orioles in front of 25,782 at Camden Yards.
The game had ties and lead changes like a basketball game.
Luke Scott's 412-foot, three-run homer gave the Orioles a 6-5 lead in the 5th. It was the 52nd homer in O's Park history to reach Eutaw Street.
Amber Theoharis interviews Luke Scott about the Birds' 9-6 loss

Bronx Bombers - There were seven homers hit in the game - five by New York. The Yankees five homers tied their season high. They last did it August 23rd at Boston. This is their fourth, five-homer game of the year.
New York, which has hit at least one homer in 105 of their 132 games, leads the Majors with 207 homers. They are on pace for a franchise-record 250.
The back-to-back homers by Nick Swisher and Eric Hinske in the 7th gave NY a 9-6 lead. It's the 14th time on the year NY has...

After back-to-back losses at Camden Yards, the Orioles need a win tonight at 7:05 p.m. vs. New York to avoid a three-game sweep by the Yankees.
Jason Berken (4-11, 6.33) pitches for the Orioles vs. CC Sabathia (15-7, 3.56).
New York has two three-game sweeps over the O's already this year, both at Yankee Stadium.

He wants to play again this year, but O's center fielder Adam Jones is trying to come to grips with the concept that he may not.
Jones suffered a badly sprained left ankle last night vs. the Yankees. It will keep him out at least two to three weeks and his season may well be over with so little time left.
"It's a tough injury, but I see myself playing again, it's just a matter of when. But this sucks, it just sucks. It's something you can't control.
"It's frustrating, I haven't...
RHP Jason Berken (4-11, 6.33) tonight will make his 19th start of the year, his 11th at home and the 2nd of his career vs. the New York Yankees.
Since starting the year 1-9, 6.93, Berken is 3-2, 4.94 over his last five starts.
He is 2-0, 3.37 over his last two starts.
Right-handed hitters bat .307 vs. Berken while lefties hit .320 off him.
The Orioles are 5-13 when Berken starts, winning the last two. He is 2-6, 5.29 in 10 Camden Yards starts.
Berken has allowed 3ER or less in 10 of his...
It's a clean sweep tonight for the Frederick Keys.
Brandon Waring has been named this year's Carolina League Most Valuable Player and lefty Zach Britton has been named Pitcher of the Year in the League.
The 23-year-old Waring, who was just moved up to Double-A Bowie on Tuesday, batted .273-26-90 in 128 games for the Keys this year. His 26 homers is tied for second most in Keys history.
Waring is second in the Carolina League in homers and is first in the league currently in doubles,...
A close game turned into a last-inning blowout tonight as the Yankees scored seven runs off Jim Johnson and Dennis Sarfate in the 9th and beat the Orioles 10-2 Wednesday.
The Yankees sweep the three-game series and have won ten in a row vs. the Orioles for the first time since 1955.
Winning pitcher CC Sabathia gave up one run and seven hits over seven innings with nine strikeouts. He improved to 16-7, 3.48.
In three starts vs. the Orioles since allowing six runs to the Birds on opening day,...
