Starting lineups: Nats vs. Marlins in West Palm Beach (Solís released)

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Hello again from FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. I'm back here for the remainder of the spring. Many thanks to Pete Kerzel for filling in during my mid-camp break.

Solis-Delivers-Red-Sidebar.jpgJust arrived at the ballpark and there's already significant news to report: Sammy Solís has been unconditionally released. While this may seem to come out of the blue for many, this really wasn't a complete shock. From the moment the Nationals chose to tender the left-hander a contract over the winter, this loomed as a possibility. By releasing him today, the club is only responsible for one-sixth of Solís' $850,000 salary (roughly $142,000). It does underscore the team's need for another reliable reliever, preferably someone who can retire left-handed batters.

As for tonight's game against the Marlins, Davey Martinez has a very representative lineup out there. This could actually come close to resembling the opening day lineup (minus, of course, the designated hitter and Aníbal Sánchez as the starting pitcher instead of Max Scherzer).

You can watch it all tonight live on MASN2. Bob, F.P. and Alex are back in town and will have the call.
