We're going to the 12th here at Nationals Park, as the Nats and Reds are still locked in a 1-1 tie. The two teams have combined for just the two runs and nine hits through 11. The Reds have failed to score since the fifth, and haven't recorded a hit the last six innings, either. The Nats, on the other hand, are now 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, and have wasted an opportunity to bring in the game-winning run off typically-wild Reds righty Alfredo Simon for the second straight day. Tom Gorzelanny is in for the Nationals to start the 12th. The lefty worked a clean 11th, following Brad Lidge, Henry Rodriguez and Ryan Mattheus in relief. That leaves Davey Johnson with Craig Stammen, Sean Burnett and Tyler Clippard as his remaining arms in the 'pen. They don't have any more coffee here in the press box, and I'm starting to get hungry again. I wonder if Ben's Chili Bowl is still open. Update: I found coffee. But we're going to the 13th. Ramos only got there because of a bizarre 6-5-2-6 fielders choice, in which Roger Bernadina took too wide of a turn around third and was picked off. Bernadina hung in a rundown long enough to get Ramos to third, but Lombardozzi couldn't cash in. Make that 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position for the Nats tonight. Update II: We played 13 innings and four hours and four minutes, but Jayson Werth finally sent the fans home happy with a game-winning RBI single that plated Danny Espinosa. The Nats win 2-1 and now have a 6-2 record.
