Game 22 lineups: Nats vs. Marlins

The Nationals return to action tonight. Howie Kendrick does not. For the sixth straight scheduled game and seventh straight day overall, Kendrick is not in the team's starting lineup. That's a growing concern, because before Wednesday night's game in Atlanta was rained out, manager Davey Martinez made it sound like there was a good chance the veteran hitter would be ready to play tonight against the Marlins. Clearly, he's not. Stay tuned.

Garcia-First-Major-League-Hit-Sidebar.jpgWith Kendrick and Starlin Castro out for the last week, Martinez has needed to cobble together the heart of his lineup. Tonight, for the first time, it includes Luis García. The 20-year-old rookie second baseman is batting fifth, behind Juan Soto and Asdrúbal Cabrera. It's a sign both of how much Martinez already trusts him and of how beat up the Nats lineup currently is.

Patrick Corbin gets the start against a Miami club that after it shockingly hot start after returning from an extended break following a coronavirus outbreak has come back to earth. Don Mattingly's crew has lost five in a row and is back to playing .500 ball at 9-9.
