Game 24 lineups: Nats at Giants

SAN FRANCISCO - The Nationals need a win tonight. It's kind of that simple after losing three in row to the Dodgers and Giants. Beyond that, they need some other events as well to help make a win more possible.

Roark pitching grey.jpgThe Nats could certainly use a big-time start from Tanner Roark. Here's the good news: He has owned the Giants in his career, to the tune of a 6-0 record and 2.02 ERA in seven regular season appearances (four starts). (We'll ignore a certain home run he surrendered to Brandon Belt on a certain long and cold and miserable October night in 2014 for now.)

Only two members of the Nationals roster have ever faced Giants starter Ty Blach before, and each did so before joining the Nats. Howie Kendrick (who is in tonight's lineup) is 2-for-8 against the left-hander; Matt Adams (who is not in tonight's lineup) is 0-for-3.

The club has formally announced today's previously reported transactions: Shawn Kelley to the 10-day disabled list, Matt Reynolds optioned to Triple-A, Adrian Sanchez and Rafael Bautista promoted from Syracuse. Sanchez is being thrown right into the lineup tonight at third base.
