Game 29 lineups: Nats at Phillies

PHILADELPHIA - As was the case in Washington, it poured in Philadelphia this morning. But as is the case in D.C., the rain has mostly cleared out now and so the Nationals and Phillies shouldn't have much trouble getting the opener of their weekend series in tonight at Citizens Bank Park.

If and when they play, Stephen Strasburg will be on the mound for the Nats in a ballpark in which he has enjoyed an awful lot of success. Strasburg has 1.64 ERA in seven career starts here, including seven innings of three-run ball last month. (He did, of course, blow out his elbow pitching here as a rookie in 2010, so it's not entirely positive memories for him.)

Stephen Strasburg gray sunset.jpgThe Phillies' starting pitcher is rookie Nick Pivetta, whose name may sound familiar. The 24-year-old right-hander was the Nationals' fourth-round pick in the 2013 draft, then was traded to Philly in July 2015 for a guy named Jonathan Papelbon. After opening the season 3-0 with an 0.95 ERA at Triple-A, he made his major league debut last week and allowed two runs in five innings to the Dodgers.

The Nationals won't have Bryce Harper in the lineup to face Pivetta tonight, presumably because of the groin tweak he suffered yesterday afternoon. It does not appear to be anything all that serious, but given the wet field here and Dusty Baker's propensity not to take chances with key players dealing with nagging injuries, it's probably not a huge surprise Harper is getting the night off.
