Game 4 lineups: Nats vs. Blue Jays

As we're quickly learning, much of the morning and afternoon right now is spent dealing with serious news stories involving people's health, and then the evening arrives and we remember there's a ballgame to be played. Strange times, and I'm not sure we'll ever get used to this daily ritual.

The Nationals, after dropping two of three to the Yankees in frustrating fashion, now host the Blue Jays for four games at Nationals Park. Er, sort of. They're hosting the first two games of this series. The two clubs were supposed to then play Wednesday and Thursday in Toronto, but the Canadian government said no, and the eventual plan to move Blue Jays home games to Buffalo couldn't be completed in time. So they'll just stay here and serve as the home team for the second half of the interleague series.

Anibal-Sanchez-Deals-White-July-4-Sidebar.jpgAs for tonight's opener, it's Aníbal Sánchez on the mound to make his season debut. The veteran right-hander threw a lot at home in Miami and during summer training, but not in any official exhibition game. This will be the first time he faces an opposing lineup, so we'll see just how ready he is. The Blue Jays have some young and impressive hitters in their lineup, including an amazing three sons of former big leaguers: Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

No major changes to the Nationals lineup, which again is without Juan Soto. Asdrúbal Cabrera starts his fourth straight game at third base while Carter Kieboom nurses a sore groin. Howie Kendrick and Eric Thames flip-flop roles at first base and designated hitter. And Kurt Suzuki is behind the plate to work with Sánchez, as they always try to do.

Here's hoping for an entertaining ballgame and nothing but positive news the rest of the evening.
