Game 48 lineups: Nats vs. Padres

Stop me if you've heard this one before: It's a cloudy day in D.C. with a chance of rain being a factor for this afternoon's game. As always, stay tuned and hope for the best as the Nationals and Padres attempt to start and complete the second game of their weekend series.

Throwing-Stephen-Strasburg-white.pngSan Diego native Stephen Strasburg is on the mound for the Nats, making his seventh career start against the favorite team of his childhood, though his first since 2015. Strasburg, not surprisingly, has fared well against the Padres, going 5-1 with a 3.50 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 34 innings.

Veteran left-hander Clayton Richard takes the mound for the visitors, facing a Nationals lineup that for the second straight day won't include Daniel Murphy. Acting manager Chris Speier said yesterday Murphy and Ryan Zimmerman were simply getting a day off and that nothing was wrong with either player. That may not be the case with Murphy after all.
