Game 96 lineups: Nats at Braves

ATLANTA - The Nationals couldn't have asked for a better start to this big weekend series. Now they'll look to keep it rolling tonight and perhaps move to within three games in the loss column of the Braves.

They'll do so with a historically notable battery. Patrick Corbin and Yan Gomes are each celebrating their birthdays today (Gomes is 32, Corbin is 30). And they're paired up, which makes this only the second time in major league history that a starting pitcher and catcher have shared birthdays. (The Cubs' Dave Hillman and Jim Fanning were the only other duo, doing it on Sept. 14, 1957.)

Patrick-Corbin-Delivers-Front-at-MIA-Gray-Sidebar.jpgThis is Corbin's first start against the Braves this season, but he has considerable experience against many of their hitters. He's done well against lefties Freddie Freeman (2-for-18), Nick Markakis (4-for-17) and Tyler Flowers (1-for-7). He's been less successful against righties Josh Donaldson (4-for-5) and Dansby Swanson (3-for-8).

The Nats face a familiar pitcher tonight themselves in Julio Teheran. (Alas, Bryce Harper is no longer with them, so he can't put up his usual ownage of the veteran right-hander.)
