Nationals recall Koda Glover

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Koda Glover from Triple-A Syracuse and placed right-handed pitcher Kelvin Herrera on the 10-day disabled list with a right rotator cuff impingement. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Glover, 25, joins the Nationals for his first Major League assignment of the season after appearing in eight games with Triple-A Syracuse. He went 1-0 with two saves and a 2.25 ERA (2 ER/8.0 IP) in those eight outings. He struck out 10 batters while issuing just two walks along the way.

Despite pitching in only 23 games in 2017, Glover led all Major League rookies with eight saves in 2017. He offered scoreless relief in 18 of his 23 appearances, struck out 17 batters against just four walks and allowed just two of 12 inherited runners to score during his second Major League season.

Herrera, 28, is 1-2 with three saves and a 4.76 ERA (9 ER/17.0 IP) in 19 outings with Washington. He was acquired from Kansas City on June 18.
