Starting lineups: Nats vs. Cardinals in Jupiter (Taylor scratched)

JUPITER, Fla. - If the Nationals are playing at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, right-hander Tanner Roark must be starting.

Roark takes the hill for his third start of the spring today, and all have come in the cozy confines of Roger Dean, where the wind whips across the outfield, turning routine fly balls into adventures, skewing pitching lines and inflating ERAs.

sidebar-Roark-Blue.jpgThis time, the Cardinals will present the opposition; in Roark's first two Grapefruit League starts here, he faced the Marlins. Roark threw 33 pitches during two one-hit innings on Feb. 24, then faced the Marlins again on three days' rest on Feb. 28, allowing a pair of unearned runs in his two-inning stint, which included a hit and a walk.

Among the extra players the Nationals brought along for today's game is outfielder Daniel Johnson, one of their top position player prospects. Last season, between low SIngle-A Hagerstown (88 games) and high Single-A Potomac (42 games), the 22-year-old slashed .298/.356/.505 with 22 homers, 72 RBIs and 22 stolen bases.

But offense isn't his only calling card. Johnson possesses one of the top arms in the organization, making him a threat on defense, too. He was ranked No. 8 in Baseball America's top 10 Nationals prospects list. Johnson has appeared in three games this spring, going 1-for-2 with a walk.

Update: Michael A. Taylor is a late scratch for today's game. No word as to why just yet. Victor Robles switches to center field and moves up to bat third, while Moisés Sierra moves to right field and batting fifth and Andrew Stevenson is inserted into left field and the eight-hole.

Update II: The Nats announced that Taylor was scratched with mild right side tightness.
