Adam Jones was holding court on ALCS media day

When he is playing well, Orioles outfielder Adam Jones can fill up the stat sheet. When he is on top of his interview game, he can fill up reporter's notebooks. While O's fans wait for Jones to get his postseason offense in high gear, he had the interview game going strong on Thursday. jones-smile-orange-close.jpgDuring the Orioles 45-minute team media availability, a steady stream of local and national reporters gathered around the O's center fielder. Here are some topics Jones addressed: On the Erik Bedard trade to Seattle that made him an Oriole: "Since that day, I looked at it as an opportunity to seize and I have not let that opportunity slip through my fingers one day since I was traded in February of 2008. "The trade was a blessing in disguise. I didn't look at it as the Mariners didn't want me, I looked at it as the Orioles wanted me. The Orioles wanted these young players to see what could blossom. "Myself, (Chris) Tillman. George Sherrill had a good year and a half over here. Kam Mickolio made his major league debut over here. I think the Orioles got the real good end of that trade with me and Tillman still a fixture in the organization." On the O's fans being fired up for the ALCS: "The city is going crazy right now. That's good. They haven't been this excited in years. Let's continue to play good baseball and keep them happy. "If you put it into perspective, we are the last two teams playing in the American League now. All the attention is on us and it's pretty humbling. We've been soaking it in, but now we're ready to play." On teammate Nelson Cruz: "First off, he is one of the best teammates I've ever had. He batted behind me and protected me all year. He put up 40 (home runs) and 108 (RBIs). He is one of the biggest reasons why we are still playing baseball. After all that, I mean, what more can I say about the guy?" On some oddsmakers making the Orioles the favorite of the remaining teams: "I haven't seen the Vegas line, which I should not be seeing. It's not about that. Due process is due process. You've got four competitive teams left. May the best man win. "We're still the underdogs in the eyes of people. Neither team is supposed to be here. We're both playing with house money and leaving it between the lines." On Kansas City's team speed: "I know they'll be running. But you have to get on first. You can't steal first. It's going to be a tough series, man. Have to leave everything on the table. Don't think for a second we won't be out there running and trying to steal bases also." On the O's outfielders jumping together at the end of O's victories: "We're the three stooges. Just, I don't know, started couple years ago, something different. Something to add to our style and it stuck. Obviously, in the playoffs, we went to the hug just to conserve our energy. Less dangerous. But the jump is still there, don't think that it's not."
