Andino gets a chance to make an impression for 2011

The end of this season is turning out better for Robert Andino than the beginning. Andino was designated for assignment by the Orioles on April 3rd. But he cleared waivers, went to Triple-A and put up enough numbers to get a September recall. Now he has started the last three games, going 4 for 15 and had a big three-run double in last night's win. He may be playing his way back into the O's picture as at least a candidate for the utility infielder job next season. "I'm just trying not to put too much pressure on myself. Just go out there and have fun. That's basically what it is. If you come up and try to make a good impression, you can try too hard. "Bases-loaded, I just tried to be aggressive and put a good swing on it and luckily I did. We had great momentum, it was just one of those innings where we just exploded. Everyone was having fun," Andino said of the O's six-run seventh inning versus Toronto. Andino showed a little pop in Norfolk this year, batting .264-13-76 with 30 doubles. He was sixth in the International League in RBI. He hit .306 after the All-Star break. After being removed from the 40-man roster in April, now he's back and appreciating every moment he has in a Major League uniform. "It's a blessing. A lot of people would like to be in my shoes. I'm not going to take it for granted. I'm just putting in my work, want to play hard and have fun," Andino said.
