Bell reflects on his stay with O's

Josh Bell had to figure it could come to this. Today he was optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk. As he packed his bag to head out of Camden Yards, he was nice enough to take a few minutes to reflect on his first few days at the big league level. "Just being here, I don't take it for granted at all. I enjoyed being at this level and definitely it teaches you stuff even when you are not playing. Josh-Bell_White-Batting-Tall.gif "Whatever they need, I'm ready to do. Even when I wasn't playing it was beneficial to me to see the pitchers and hitters in this league." Bell made five starts with the Birds and went 5 for 19 (.263) at bat, all singles. His last game was last Friday vs. Toronto and he went 2 for 4. He was not pleased with his defense at third while here. "Defensively, with the throws, it could have been better. I think every time out I can learn something. I'll take it back to Triple-A and play every day and hopefully when I come back it will all work out. "I feel I need to be playing. I look forward to it and hopefully I'll get down there and work out the kinks and hopefully they won't be able to send me down next time." "Josh has been outstanding," O's interim manager Juan Samuel said. "He knew we were trying to find him some at bats here and there. He knows we care about him and we want him to continue to play. Josh was great here." Bell was batting .266-10-38 in 74 games at Norfolk. He said any success at the Majors is a real boost for him to show him he can play at this level. "It does. Making any play, any hit that you can get (here) boosts my confidence a bit and helps me settle down. The more you are out there, the more comfortable you feel." I asked Bell what he feels he needs to work on when he gets back on the field with Norfolk. "Just fine tuning everything. Just my throws, I was watching some video of where I was releasing the ball. Pretty much, my defense. "I was talking to Fox about my approaches at the plate. I think I'm going to try some of them out. Then maybe come back and we'll see how it goes."
