Cobb throws simulated game (and other notes)

SARASOTA, Fla. - Alex Cobb threw a simulated game this morning on Camden Yards South in lieu of making his next start.

Cobb is having his schedule adjusted after wife Kelly gave birth to a daughter Friday night.

Cobb-Brings-White-sidebar.jpgIn two spring starts, Cobb allowed four runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning in his debut against the Rays, and one run and two hits over three innings in his follow-up outing versus the Pirates.

Chris Davis participated in the simulated game, hitting on the field to test his sore left hip flexor after taking a bunch of swings yesterday in the indoor cage. Manager Brandon Hyde suggested yesterday that Davis could return to the lineup on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Mark Trumbo and Trey Mancini also served as hitters for Cobb, and Chance Sisco handled the catching duties.

The Orioles are expected to make roster cuts this morning. Hyde's daily session with the media is pushed back to 11:45 a.m.

Mike Wright starts Tuesday against the Yankees in Tampa and Andrew Cashner starts Wednesday versus the Blue Jays in Sarasota. Pitchers listed behind Wright include John Means, Nate Karns, Richard Bleier, Mychal Givens, Sean Gilmartin and Josh Lucas.

Zack Britton is listed among the available Yankees pitchers on Tuesday.

The Orioles have brought over pitchers Luis Gonzalez, Jay Flaa, Tanner Chleborad and D.J. Snelten, outfielders Mike Yastrzemski, Jaycob Brugman and T.J. Nichting, infielders Sean Miller and Jomar Reyes and catcher Daniel Fajardo from minor league camp.
