Dylan Bundy with a one-hitter and 12 strikeouts to blank Seattle

Dylan was dealing. Dylan Bundy set a new career high with 12 strikeouts and pitched a complete-game one-hitter tonight as the Orioles beat the Seattle Mariners 4-0 at Oriole Park.

The Orioles have won six in a row to tie a season high first set May 4-9. This current run improves their record to 67-65. They are two games over the .500 mark for the first time since June 10.

bundy white cg side.jpgThe only hit Bundy allowed was a bunt single to the third-base side of the mound by Kyle Seager with one out in the fourth. After that hit Bundy retired 12 in a row until Guillermo Heredia reached on shortstop Tim Beckham's second error of the night in the eighth.

This is the 40th one-hitter in O's history and 33rd by one pitcher. Jason Hammel was the last to do so, on June 16, 2012 at Atlanta. This is the Orioles' first complete-game shutout since Miguel Gonzalez versus Cincinnati on Sept. 3, 2014.

Bundy improves to 13-8 with a 3.94 ERA. He walked two to go with the 12 strikeouts and threw 116 pitches, 85 for strikes. Over his past five starts, he is 4-0 with a 2.06 ERA. Tonight was his fifth straight quality start and 18th on the year. The Orioles are 16-9 in his 2017 outings.

This was Bundy's third game with 10-plus strikeouts this month. That's more 10-strikeout games than any other Orioles pitcher has totaled in the last 10 seasons.

The Orioles took a 1-0 lead on Jonathan Schoop's solo homer to left with two outs and none on in the first. He hit an Erasmo Ramirez 92 mph fastball for No. 29 and his 97th RBI. It traveled 416 feet and was Schoop's 500th career hit. The homer momentarily gave him the team lead.

But his buddy Manny Machado tied him, hitting his 29th homer to make it 2-0 in the last of the sixth. Machado led off the inning and connected on an 0-2 changeup. It was over the outside corner, but Machado yanked it just over the left-field wall.

Machado now has 11 homers and 33 RBIs in August. He has hit eight homers and knocked in 20 runs over his last 16 games.

The Orioles added a third solo homer in the seventh. Welington Castillo connected off reliever James Pazos to make it 3-0. Castillo hit No. 15 on an 0-1 sinker.

Machado made it 4-0 with his second homer of the night in the last of the eighth. It was No. 30, and gave Machado his fourth multi-homer game of this year and 13th of his career.

The Orioles have hit 17 home runs their last eight games, and 23 in the past 11. They are 39-12 when they hit more than one home run.
