Eastern League pennant race

The Bowie Baysox and Harrisburg are now tied for the final Eastern League playoff spot with identical 75-64 records with three games to go. Bowie is playing at Richmond tonight while Harrisburg is at Binghamton. Should the teams finish tied for second place and that last playoff spot, they will play a one-game playoff contest on Tuesday at Bowie. Eddie Gamboa (7-5, 3.70) is tonight's Baysox starter. He is coming off 6 1/3 scoreless innings in his last outing and is 1-1, 2.45 vs. Richmond this season. Bowie, which has won five of its last six games, is 13-13 on the year vs. Richmond, winning four of the last six. Update: Richmond tonight took a 3-0 lead in the first vs. Bowie, but the Baysox have come back to tie it, 3-3 in the 3rd. Ryan Adams has a two-run homer. Binghamton leads Harrisburg 2-1 after one inning. In case you have not noticed, Billy Rowell's bat has heated up at Frederick. Over his last nine games, he is 17 for 37 (.459) with a homer and 8 RBI. Since August first, Rowell is batting .340-2-17 over 27 games and he's batting 314 since the All-Star break. With last night's win over Kinston, Frederick clinched its first winning season since 2005 and is now 71-66 with three to play in the regular season. The Keys will host game one of the playoffs, likely vs. Potomac, on Wednesday night at Harry Grove Stadium. O's top draft pick Manny Machado has two games left to play before Aberdeen ends its season. Machado is batting .316-0-1 in five IronBirds games, going 6 for 19 with one double.
