Game 117 lineups: Nats at Mets

NEW YORK - The Nationals are in salvage mode Sunday after a pair of rough late-inning losses against the Mets at Citi Field. Despite enjoying leads in the eighth and ninth innings Friday and Saturday nights, the Nats fell 7-6 and 4-3 and find themselves only 1/2 game ahead of New York in the National League wild card standings.

"We just come back all the way from the West Coast," said Nationals catcher Yan Gomes after Saturday's loss. "We swept the Giants over there who they were a team that was kind of hot. We are just playing a good team at a time that they're hot. They are scoring late. But we got a little ways to go. It's our turn to get hot. August and September baseball is going to be fun. That's what we play for."

Sanchez-Deals-at-SF-Gray-Sidebar.jpgToday the Nats turn to Aníbal Sánchez to oppose right-hander Jacob deGrom.

Sánchez is 7-6 with a 3.67 ERA and deGrom comes in at 7-7 with a 2.77 ERA. Sánchez is in the middle of a career-tying seven-game win streak. He had a similar streak from June 9 to July 22, 2015. His last loss was May 10 at the Los Angeles Dodgers. During this current run, Sánchez has a 2.82 ERA.

Left fielder Juan Soto is on a tremendous power surge with three homers in the series. He is also among the NL leaders in walks (73) and on-base percentage (.401). His OBP of .427 since May 17 ranks second in Major League Baseball behind the Angles slugger Mike Trout. Soto's on-base streak is now at 16 games. He has five hits in the series, four of which have been extra base hits.

Shortstop Trea Turner's on-base streak is at 18 games after a single in the second inning Saturday night. During this treak he is hitting .338 with three doubles, one triple, three homers, 10 walks, five stolen bases and six RBIs.
