Game 2 lineups: Nats vs. Mets

The Nationals look to get their offense going in game two of the 2019 season, but it will not be easy. That is because the opponent today is the Mets and their starter, Noah Syndergaard.

The Nats are excited about seeing right-hander Stephen Strasburg make his season debut after a strong spring training. Strasburg made it through spring training with no health issues and appeared to get stronger with each start. He also had a positive demeanor and no setbacks, which would seem to project for a good start for the right-hander.

Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases on opening day. The three thefts matched the most in a game on opening day in baseball history. The last time it occurred was when former Nats infielder Emilio Bonifacio stole three bases for the Florida Marlins against the Nats on April 6, 2009.

Strasburg is 8-5 with a 2.83 ERA in 17 starts against the Mets in his career, with 129 strikeouts in 105 innings. He went 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA in spring training with 28 strikeouts to only seven walks. He struck out 15 batters with only two walks in his last two spring starts.

Syndergaard is 3-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 12 career starts against the Nats. He was 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts facing the Nats over 12 innings last season.
