Game 52 lineups: Nats at Orioles

BALTIMORE - No, it's not the most important sporting event today involving a team from Washington, but it's still the first game of this year's Battle of the Beltways, and that's not bad. The Nationals and Orioles renew their annual interleague rivalry this afternoon under gray (and surprisingly chilly) skies, and these two franchises are at complete opposite ends of the spectrum right now.

The Nats are feeling good about themselves after a weekend sweep in Miami that leaves them one game out of first place in the highly competitive National League East division. The Orioles just lost 4-of-6 on the road to the White Sox and Rays and currently sit 19 games back in the American League East division.

gio-gonzalez-gray miami.jpgToday's Memorial Day matinee features Gio Gonzalez on the mound for the visitors. It's the lefty's seventh career start at Camden Yards; he comes in 1-3 with a 3.79 ERA and was rocked last summer when he served up three homers in six innings. Alex Cobb, the Orioles' big offseason acquisition, makes his first career start against the Nats, hoping to get himself back on track after a dreadful start to his season (1-6, 7.32 ERA in eight starts).
