Gausman vs. Shoemaker tonight in Anaheim

The Orioles hit four more home runs last night in Anaheim, with Joey Rickard and Manny Machado going deep to start the game. The club leads the majors with 61, one more than the Rays.

Machado, Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis are the first trio in Orioles history to have at least 10 home runs and 25 RBIs in the first 40 games of a season.

Kevin Gausman turned in three consecutive quality starts until his last outing, when he allowed four runs and 10 hits in five innings against the Tigers.

Gausman is 1-1 with a 6.39 ERA in two career starts against the Angels, allowing nine runs and 12 hits in 12 2/3 innings. He walked five batters and struck out six.

In his only start in Anaheim, Gausman surrendered six runs and nine hits over 5 2/3 innings on Aug 7, 2015. Mike Trout hit a solo home run in the first inning in the Orioles' 8-4 loss.

Junior Lake was the Orioles' designated hitter. It means nothing in relation to tonight's game, but I wanted to say it anyway.

The current group of Angels are 13-for-38 (.342) against Gausman. Yunel Escobar is 6-for-10 with a double. Trout is 2-for-5 with a homer.

Angels right-hander Matt Shoemaker is 2-5 with an 8.49 ERA and 1.854 WHIP in seven starts. He's allowed 42 hits in 29 2/3 innings.

Shoemaker has lasted only three, 2 1/3, four and five innings in his last four starts.

In two career starts versus the Orioles, Shoemaker is 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA and 0.632 WHIP in 12 2/3 innings. He's struck out 17.

The current Orioles are 3-for-24 against Shoemaker. Adam Jones is 2-for-6 with two home runs. Davis is 0-for-5 with four strikeouts.
