Hyun Soo Kim leaves game with hamstring injury (Davis homers)

Orioles left fielder Hyun Soo Kim exited today's game after the bottom of the first inning with an apparent leg injury, his first major league ailment. No explanation has been given for his removal.

Update: Kim left the game with a strained right hamstring.

Kim grounded to Angels' second baseman Gregorio Petit as Adam Jones advanced to second. Jones led off with a single.

Jones was stranded on third base to end the inning and Joey Rickard headed out to left field as Chris Tillman began his warmup tosses.

Kim was slow to get up the line, the first hint that he wasn't 100 percent. He appeared to be limping as he returned to the dugout.

Kim began today batting .331/.413/.457 with 10 doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs in 45 games and 151 at-bats. He's 8-for-30 this month.

Manager Buck Showalter brought Kim along slowly, giving him 17 plate appearances in April. Kim batted .333/.422/.486 with five doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs in 83 plate appearances in June and has become the regular left fielder against right-handed pitching.

With the All-Star break arriving following today's game, Kim will have four days to recover before the Orioles open their series against the Rays on Friday night at Tropicana Field. He probably won't be in the lineup Saturday against left-hander Matt Moore.

This is assuming that the injury isn't serious enough to warrant a trip to the disabled list, where relievers Darren O'Day, T.J. McFarland and Brian Duensing currently reside. Duensing was moved to the 60-day DL on July 3.

Update II: Chris Davis hit his 22nd home run and his 183rd as an Oriole, a two-run shot in the fourth that erased the Angels' 1-0 lead. He drove the ball deep into the seats in left field to pass Ken Singleton for sole possession of eighth place on the club's all-time home run list. Brady Anderson is seventh with 209.
