Luke Scott with a walk-off RBI single as O's top Toronto

The O's needed extra innings, but they have finally beaten Toronto. Luke Scott's RBI single to center with one out in the 11th gave the Orioles a 4-3 win as they improve to 1-12 vs. the Blue Jays. Nick Markakis led off the 11th with a single to left off Brian Tallet, his third hit of the night and went to second on a groundout. He scored on Scott's game-winning hit. With the win, the Orioles improved to 12-3 in extra innings and avoided losing 13 in a row to Toronto for the first time since April 11, 1999 to May 10, 2000.
Buck Showalter talks with the media after the O's 4-3 11-inning win
The O's took a 3-1 lead to the 8th, but Yunel Escobar's two-out, two-run single off Jim Johnson tied the game. That kept Rick VandenHurk from picking up a win. When Brian Matusz left the game after one inning, VandenHurk came in and pitched 5 1/3, allowing just two hits and one run in the longest relief outing of the year by an Oriole. Matusz got hit by an Escobar liner in the first and stayed in the game then, but left after the first. Matusz suffered a left triceps contusion and threw just 24 pitches. Brian Roberts homered in the first, his 13th career leadoff homer and the O's second run scored on a Brandon Snyder infield single in the 2nd and that was his first Major League hit. Roberts left the game in the 8th after he was hit by a pitch near his right knee. The O's improved to 17-41 vs. the AL East and 24-15 under Buck Showalter. David Hernandez, the seventh pitcher the O's used, got the win and Tallet took the loss in front of 9.882 at Camden Yards.
