Mullins in center field tonight, Jones in right

Cedric Mullins is in the Orioles' lineup tonight to make his major league debut, and he's starting in center field.

Adam Jones is shifting to right field for the series opener against the Red Sox at Camden Yards. Mullins said they've been in constant contact and Jones is supportive of the change.

Mullins is batting ninth. Jonathan Villar is leading off.

Mullins will wear No. 3 after having his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles designated Danny Valencia for assignment to make room on the 25-man roster.

Norfolk manager Ron Johnson informed Mullins of his promotion after yesterday's game at Harbor Park.

Valencia batted .263/.316/.408 with eight doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 28 RBIs in 78 games after signing a minor league deal in spring training. The Orioles were unable to work out a trade for him before the non-waiver deadline.
