Nats post 7-6 win to even series

After pitching to an ERA of 2.77 over his previous four starts, the Orioles staked Brad Bergesen to a 6-3 lead today. But he could not hold it. The Nationals scored four runs in the sixth off Bergesen and Mark Hendrickson to rally for a 7-6 lead and win over the Orioles on Saturday afternoon. The Nats had not held a lead in this series until their five-hit sixth frame today which featured a Roger Bernadina RBI triple, an Alberto Gonzalez pinch-hit RBI single and Adam Dunn's two-run single. Matt Capps retired the side in order in the ninth to improve to 16 for 16 in saves on the year. Bergesen allowed six runs and 11 hits over five innings.

Ty Wigginton tied his career-high with 4 RBI and hit a two-run homer in the sixth, his 13th of the year. The Orioles fell to 14-30 with their sixth loss in eight games. They fall to 1-3 on this road trip and 6-18 on the season on the road. The Nats won for just the second time in nine games to get back to the .500 mark at 22-22. The O's are 13-13 vs. the Nats since their 2006 move to Washington. In the series finale, Sunday at 1:35, Kevin Millwood (0-4, 3.65) faces Jon Lannan (1-2, 6.02).
