NLDS Game 3 lineups: Nats at Dodgers

LOS ANGELES - Greetings from Chavez Ravine, where it is an absolutely perfect day for postseason baseball in Southern California. It is expected to be 83 degrees at first pitch at Dodger Stadium.

Left-hander Gio Gonzalez is 0-0 with a 3.21 ERA in three playoff starts. In his last matchup against the Giants in 2014, Gonzalez tossed four innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout.

He made it known Saturday he doesn't want to look back to his up-and-down regular season and is looking forward to an opportunity to put his club ahead in the National League Division Series if he can produce a strong outing.

The Dodgers counter with 28-year-old Japanese right-hander Kenta Maeda. Like Gonzalez, he would like to forget a couple of recent starts, especially Oct. 2 at San Francisco. Maeda lasted only a season-low 2 2/3 innings, allowing a season-worst five runs on nine hits, with two walks and three strikeouts.

He pitched eight seasons for Hiroshima in the Japan Central League. He had an impressive overall season for the Dodgers: 16-11, 3.48 ERA. This will be his first start against the Nationals. Maeda has allowed a 5.30 ERA in pitches 26 through 50 according to Baseball-Reference.com, so there's a possible opportunity for Nationals hitters to get to him the second time through the order.

The Nationals offense has been led by second baseman Daniel Murphy, who is 4-for-6 in the first three games of the series. He has done well against the Dodgers in the postseason since last year, hitting .408 (11-for-27) with three homers and five RBIs.
