No issues with Rowell

You may have noticed that Billy Rowell of the Frederick Keys played the first game of the season, went 0 for 4, and has not played since. Rowell is not hurt. He was feeling the effects of a bad cold over the weekend and even stayed in the hotel one night as the Keys played a season-opening series at Lynchburg. Rowell may return to the lineup tomorrow night when Frederick plays its home opener. New Keys manager Orlando Gomez will be with the team for the first time tomorrow. He missed the Lynchburg series as he traveled to Puerto Rico to deal with a family issue. Gary Kendall managed the team while Gomez was away. Keys outfielder Ronnie Welty has missed the last two games with a back strain, but it is not expected to too serious. Great stat from Keys public relations. L.J. Hoes and Xavier Avery are the second and third youngest players in the Carolina League right now. Hoes, who is 5 for 14 with 4 RBI, turned 20 in March. Avery, who is 5 for 13 with four runs and a .556 OBP right now, turned 20 in January. Oliver Drake will be on the mound when Frederick plays its first home game Tuesday at 7:00 vs. Myrtle Beach.
