No reason to be concerned about Guthrie

Well, now we know that Jake Arrieta is officially scheduled to make his Major League debut tomorrow here at Camden Yards. Jeremy Guthrie, who was listed yesterday as Thursday's starter, will now get an extra day of rest and is set to start Friday vs. the Mets. After his last start, Guthrie mentioned that he had been dealing with some "general soreness." Today he told reporters he is fine and that he has known he will be pitching on Friday since the day after his last start, last Saturday vs. Boston. "I was told the day after I pitched (the last time) I would pitch Friday. "I'm great, no physical issues. Nothing is wrong, I haven't missed a start or a bullpen session all season." Guthrie gave up just five hits and two runs in that start vs. the Red Sox, pitching 7 1/3 innings. Over his last five starts, he is 2-2, 2.43. He was reminded today that he mentioned he had some soreness after that last start. "Every pitcher has them (aches and pains). Nothing is wrong, nothing has been wrong. I'm doing what every other pitcher is doing. "Obviously it's a story to you (the media) because you guys weren't told four days ago that I was pitching Friday, and why I don't know. I'm not the mastermind behind who puts out probables." Guthrie is 3-6, 3.71 in 12 starts on the season and has held opponent hitters to a batting average of just .241.
