O's game blog: Going for two in a row versus Blue Jays in Toronto

TORONTO - The Orioles can end an 11-series road losing streak with a win this afternoon at Toronto. They beat the Blue Jays 4-1 last night at Rogers Centre as Dylan Bundy gave up one run over 6 2/3 innings and Chris Davis homered and drove in three.

The Orioles last road series win was at Rogers Centre from April 1-3. They then split a four-game series at Boston and have since dropped 11 consecutive series away from Oriole Park.

The O's longest winning streak of the year is four games and they'll have three in a row with a win today. Bundy and John Means have recorded back-to-back quality starts, allowing three earned runs over 13 2/3 innings. The last time the O's have had three straight quality starts was when they recorded five in a row June 5-9.

The Orioles (26-61) have won four of their past seven. They are 15-30 on the road and Friday's win improved their record to 7-46 when scoring four or less. Toronto (33-56) had a streak of eight straight games scoring five or more runs end last night. The Blue Jays are 17-29 at home and 11-20 against the AL East.

Right-hander Andrew Cashner (8-3, 4.03 ERA) will make his 17th start and looks to stay on a good roll today. Cashner has recorded quality starts in four straight games and in seven of his past nine starts.

In his last four games, he is 2-1 with a 1.44 ERA and .180 average against. In 25 innings, he's allowed 16 hits but no homers with four walks and 14 strikeouts. Over his past nine games, Cashner is 4-2 with a 3.57 ERA.

Cashner is coming off his second scoreless start of 2019. He gave up just three hits in seven innings last Saturday at home versus Cleveland. He walked one and fanned six, throwing 98 pitches.

Cashner recorded his other scoreless start in his only start this year versus Toronto. On April 2 at Rogers Centre he went six innings on four hits and 89 pitches. In seven career games against Toronto he is 2-2 with a 2.68 ERA and 1.282 WHIP.

Lefty Clayton Richard (1-4, 6.51 ERA) gets the start for Toronto. He had no quality starts over his first six outings of the year with an ERA of 7.46. But over his past two games he's delivered two straight quality starts allowing six runs and 15 hits in 12 innings versus the Yankees and Royals.

In the three previous games, he went 0-2 with an ERA of 11.37, allowing 20 hits in 12 2/3. While lefties bat just .188 off Richard, right-handers are hitting .336 with an OPS of 1.030 against him.
