O's game blog: O's have scored just six runs so far in K.C. series

Can the Orioles get their bats going today at Kansas City? We keep waiting. The Orioles have scored just six runs in this series, just 15 over their past seven games and just 39 over the last 14 games. In six games on the season against Kansas City pitching, the Orioles are batting .205 with 12 runs scored. They are 4-for-27 (.148) with runners in scoring position and have drawn just nine walks compared to 48 strikeouts. But their pitching has been outstanding in this series. The Orioles have allowed two runs in three games at Kauffman Stadium for an ERA of 0.69. The starters' ERA is 0.83 in the series. Since the O's are not hitting much lately, let's check in on a couple of hot hitters in the O's minors. Brett Wallace has been on a tear at Triple-A Norfolk and he hit a walk-off homer in the 13th inning last night as the Tides beat Charlotte in front of a season-high crowd of 8,197 at Harbor Park. Wallace's blast capped his four-hit, four-run effort. Wallace is batting .392 (31-for-79) with five home runs, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored over his last 21 games. First baseman Christian Walker continues to hit well for Double-A Bowie. He is 9-for-20 during a five-game hitting streak with two doubles, two homers and six RBIs. On the year, in 40 games Walker is batting .321 with nine homers, 33 RBIs and an .889 OPS. He ranks tied for second in the Eastern League in homers and first in RBIs. Last season, over three levels, he hit 11 home runs.
