O's game blog: Orioles look for first three-game sweep at Anaheim since 2010

The Orioles are looking for their second three-game sweep of the season tonight when they play at Anaheim. The O's took three in St. Petersburg against Tampa Bay from May 6-8. The Orioles swept a four-game series at home against Texas from June 30-July 3. They were swept in a three-game series at home by Detroit from May 12-14. The Orioles last took three in Anaheim from Aug. 27-29, 2010. The Orioles are 7-2 against the Angels, 5-1 on the road, since the start of the 2013 season. With last night's win, the Orioles now are a season-high 11 games over .500. The Birds were last 12 games over .500 on August 12, 2013 at 65-53. Chris Tillman (7-5, 4.03 ERA) faces Jered Weaver (10-6, 3.43 ERA) in the series finale. Over his last eight starts, Tillman is 2-3 with an ERA of 2.50 and has seven quality starts. In his first 13 starts of 2014, Tillman had just five quality starts. Tillman has allowed three earned runs or less in his last eight starts. In 12 road starts this year, Tillman is 6-0 with a 4.96 ERA. In nine home starts, he is 1-5 with an ERA of 2.89. Weaver has pitched to an ERA of 2.40 over his last three starts. In 12 home starts he is 5-3 with a 2.70 ERA. He is 6-4 with an ERA of 3.06 in 10 career starts versus Baltimore. An interesting note on Jonathan Schoop. He has eight homers this season and all eight have come on the road. Last season, during his time at Triple-A Norfolk, Schoop hit nine homers and all nine came on the road. He had none in 31 games at Harbor Park and nine in 39 games on the road. The Orioles are 6-1 this season when Schoop homers and 7-1 in his career. The Orioles begin play tonight with wins in nine of 13, 13 of 18 and 18 of their last 27 games. They are 14-6 in their last 20 road games and 14-8 against the American League West. The O's rank third in the AL with a .580 road winning percentage (29-21) this season, behind Detroit (29-17) at .630 and Seattle (28-20) at .583.
