Odor in Orioles lineup for series opener in Seattle

Rougned Odor has returned to the Orioles lineup tonight in Seattle, recovered from the back soreness that restricted him to one pinch-hitting appearance in Chicago.

Odor is batting seventh, two spots behind Adley Rutschman and one behind Ryan Mountcastle.

Jonathan Araúz is starting at third base after homering yesterday for his first hit as an Oriole.

Anthony Santander is playing left field and Austin Hays is in right.

Trey Mancini remains seventh among American League designated hitters in All-Star Game balloting. However, Hays has dropped out of the top 20 among outfielders. He was 19th last week.

No other Orioles appear among the leaders.

Mancini has received 128,543 votes. Houston’s Yordan Alvarez is first with 1,374,876.

The Mariners acquired first baseman Carlos Santana from the Royals today for minor league right-handers Wyatt Mills and William Fleming.

Santana is batting .357/.478/.554/ this month.

Rookie George Kirby has 47 strikeouts and only six walks through nine games. He has a chance to become the first pitcher in major league history with 50 strikeouts and eight walks or fewer over his first 10 career games.

The rotation has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 24 consecutive games, a franchise record. The bullpen has strung together 17 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

Seattle is coming off a 5-1 road trip against the Athletics and Angels.

The Mariners are 30-10 when scoring at least four runs and 4-30 when tallying three or fewer.
