Orioles Game 1 lineup, Hall recalled as 27th player

DETROIT – Heavy rain yesterday rearranged the four-game series between the Orioles and Tigers, with the teams forced into a split doubleheader today.

The first game begins at 12:10 p.m., with the second game at 5:10 p.m.

The Orioles have won nine of their last 10 games, 11 of 13 and 13 of 16. They improved Friday night to 9-0 in series openers.

A victory today in Game 1 would put them 10 above .500 to match their high in 2022.

Adley Rutschman is out of the Game 1 lineup for the first time this season. Joey Ortiz starts again at second base.

Ramón Urías is batting third for the first time in his career. Jorge Mateo moves up to fifth. Cedric Mullins is seventh.

Left-hander DL Hall is the 27th man after being scratched from yesterday’s start in Triple-A Norfolk’s doubleheader. Hall has a 4.41 ERA and 1.469 WHIP in four outings with the Tides. He’s allowed eight runs and 15 hits with nine walks and 20 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings.

Hall threw 85 pitches in five innings in his most recent start. He threw 89 over four innings on April 15.

Dean Kremer is 2-0 with a 6.20 ERA and 1.378 WHIP in five starts. He tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings in D.C. but faced the Red Sox in his next start and allowed four runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Kremer, who gets the ball for Game 1, has never faced the Tigers.

Grayson Rodriguez makes his fifth major league start in Game 2. He shut out the Tigers on five hits over five innings with six strikeouts on Sunday, avoiding that one disastrous frame that’s damaged his outings.

On that same day, former Orioles minor leaguer Eduardo Rodriguez was tossing a perfect game for 6 2/3 innings until Ryan Mountcastle singled. The Orioles won on a walk-off wild pitch.

They keep finding ways.

Rodriguez has a 2.32 ERA and 0.839 WHIP in five starts over 31 innings. He’s 13-5 lifetime against the Orioles with a 2.79 ERA and 1.088 WHIP.

Left-hander Matthew Boyd, who’s on the mound for Game 2, has a 4.26 ERA and 1.421 WHIP in four starts. He’s walked 10 batters and struck out 19 in 19 innings.

Boyd has made four career starts against the Orioles and registered a 5.21 ERA and 1.632 WHIP in 19 innings.

James McCann is 3-for-8 with a double against him.
