Roberts and Manfra elected to Orioles Hall of Fame

SARASOTA, Fla. - His new assignment as an analyst on Orioles broadcasts on 105.7 The Fan won't be the only reason for former second baseman Brian Roberts to come back to Camden Yards over the summer.

Roberts has been elected to the Orioles Hall of Fame and will inducted prior to the Aug. 11 game against the Red Sox.

The 50th overall pick in the 1999 amateur draft out of the University of South Carolina, Roberts spent 13 seasons with the Orioles and batted .278/.349/.412 with 351 doubles, 35 triples, 92 home runs and 521 RBIs over 1,327 games. He also stole 278 bases, including 50 in 2007.

Roberts is also among the club's overall career leaders in stolen bases (second), doubles (fourth), runs (sixth with 810), triples (sixth), extra-base hits (seventh with 478), walks (seventh with 581), hits (ninth with 1,452), at-bats (10th with 5,214), total bases (10th with 2,149), and games (12th).

The two-time All-Star will be joined on Aug. 11 by former broadcaster Fred Manfra, who's been chosen to receive the Herb Armstrong Award for non-uniformed personnel. The East Baltimore native and Patterson High School graduate spent 24 years with the Orioles Radio Network.

Roberts retired following the 2014 season after he signed with the Yankees as a free agent. Injuries and concussion symptoms limited him to a combined 192 games over his last four seasons in Baltimore.
