Some notes as the O's and K.C. get set for day baseball

Having already secured a winning road trip at 4-2, the Orioles play at Kansas City this afternoon at 2:10 p.m. in the final game of this trip. Here are some notes on the Orioles: * The Orioles picked up their 14th win last night. Last year, they didn't win their 14th game until May 21.They improved to 7-7 on the road last night and last year didn't win their seventh road game until June 15. * Nick Markakis entered Wednesday's game with just one extra-base hit and just three RBIs during his previous 17 games, a stretch where he had just 12 hits over 70 at-bats. He then went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and solo homer. * Mark Reynolds went 3-for-3 with a walk after a stretch where he went 5-for-52. It was his first Orioles' three-hit game. Reynolds had gone 18 games since his last multi-hit effort back on April 13 versus New York. * The O's 3-2 win was just their fifth one-run game of the year. They have played back-to-back games decided by a single run and are 3-2 on the season in those games. * Kevin Gregg picked up the save and has now pitched shutout ball over his last six appearances. In the stretch, he has pitched six innings, allowing just one hit with three walks and five strikeouts. * The Orioles improved to 14-15 overall with last night's win and they are 7-7 on the road, 8-8 versus the American League Central and 11-2 when they outhit their opponent. * Jake Arrieta's outing, where he gave up just one run over seven innings, was the Orioles' 10th quality start over the last 15 games. O's starters have an ERA of 3.37 during that stretch and have pitched six innings or more in 12 of those 15 games. Arrieta became the third O's starter to pitch at least seven innings: April 1: Jeremy Guthrie at Tampa, 8 IP, 0 runs April 9: Zach Britton vs. Texas, 7 2/3 IP, 0 runs April 21: Jeremy Guthrie vs. Minn, 7 IP, 2 runs May 2: Jeremy Guthrie at CWS, 7 IP, 4 runs May 4: Jake Arrieta at KC, 7 IP, 1 run
