Stewart activated from injured list and in Orioles' lineup

Outfielder DJ Stewart has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is in the Orioles lineup tonight and playing left field as they resume their first home series against the Red Sox.

Thumbnail image for Stewart-Swing-Back-Orange-sidebar.jpgStewart hit two home runs in eight spring at-bats before straining his left hamstring on March 5 against the Blue Jays in Dunedin. He's been working out at the alternate training site in Bowie.

Ryan Mountcastle is the designated hitter tonight, Rio Ruiz is playing second base and Chance Sisco is catching.

Left-hander Bruce Zimmermann is making his second start and third of his major league career. He faced the Red Sox on Sunday and earned his first career win after allowing three runs in six innings. J.D. Martinez hit a solo home run.

Garrett Richards opposed Zimmermann and lasted only two innings, surrendering six runs and seven hits with two walks.

The Red Sox own the American League's longest active winning streak at four games. They've recorded a plus-21 run differential, posted a .333 average and, .923 OPS, 2.31 ERA and .184 average against and committed only one error.

Some Orioles took early batting practice on the field today, the group including Mountcastle, Ruiz, Sisco and Freddy Galvis.

For you weather aficionados, the game-time temperature will be 64 degrees with a zero percent chance of precipitation.
