The day after for Matusz

Brian Matusz said today he hasn't yet met with Rick Kranitz and/or Buck Showalter to discuss whether he will make his next start. He and the O's expect that he will after Matusz suffered a left triceps contusion last night vs. Toronto and pitched just one inning vs. the Jays. "It feels good, still a little bit swollen and bruised up a little bit. We are going to continue to do treatment with ice, stim and go from there. Keep a pressure pad on it to get the swelling down. I am not going to throw today, but we'll see how it feels tomorrow and go from there. "Normally I throw every day. But since we are (now) throwing about once every seven days, it's okay to take today off and see how it feels tomorrow." Matusz took a liner off his left arm when the second batter of the game, Yunel Escobar, lined one back at the mound last night. "It swelled up and bruised up a bit last night. It's a little sore, it struck me pretty good. I should be fine. Hopefully the swelling goes down." There appears to be no talk about this bringing Matusz's season to an early ending. "I don't feel like it's that big of an issue. I really don't feel like it's that big of an injury to cause that to happen. I'd like to continue to throw and build my innings up." Matusz is 8-12, 4.68 and has made 29 starts pitching 157 2/3 innings. Last season, between Frederick, Bowie and Baltimore, he made 27 starts and worked the exact number of innings that he has now, 157 2/3.
