With a win Wednesday afternoon, the Orioles can pick up an elusive series victory

After Tuesday night's loss at Oakland, the Orioles play the A's this afternoon and a win would give them their first series win in nearly two months and their first road series win in more than three months. The Orioles' last win in any series was when they took two of three from the Reds at home June 24-26. Since then, they have lost 11 series and tied one. During that stretch, the Orioles have won the first game of the series three times, but they lost every other game in those three series, going 0-7. They won the first game of this series before a loss in game two. The Orioles have lost 12 straight road series since taking two of three from Tampa May 13-15. Here are some other notes after the O's loss at Oakland: * The Orioles fall to 18-38 on the road this year and they have now lost 15 of their past 19 away from Camden Yards. * The Orioles did not homer last night for just the third time in the last 15 games. They lead the majors with 94 homers since June 1 and the Orioles have hit two or more homers in a game in 30 of 67 games since then. * The Orioles were trying for a third straight win but did not get it and it would have been their first three-game win streak since they took four in a row from June 6-10. Some player hitting notes: * Josh Bell now has back-to-back, two-RBI games after driving in just one in his previous 11 games. * J.J. Hardy is 0-for-17 over his last four games. He has hit four homers the past nine games and nine in his last 19 games. * Adam Jones is 8-for-18 during a five-game hitting streak. * Mark Reynolds had a double Tuesday, but he is just 3-for-33 at bat and over his last 14 games is batting .118 (6-for-51) with three homers and three RBIs. * Robert Andino had two RBIs Tuesday and has four RBIs his past three games and six over the last 10 games. * With a win last night, the Orioles would have tied the all-time series against Oakland at 242 wins each. They are 4-4 this year against Oakland after going 3-7 last year. Since the start of the 2008 season, the Orioles are 8-21 against Oakland and that includes a 2-13 mark at Oakland. * Orioles starting pitchers now have produced just four quality starts over the last 18 games and have an ERA of 6.68 in that stretch.
