Nationals to unveil new menu options at home opener

Dinner's ready, y'all! Come and get it! Alright, since it's way too hard to type and ring my triangular dinner bell at the same time, let me just get straight to the point: Nationals Park is a food lover's paradise. It's true. It seems like each season the fine folks in our nation's capital are adding more and more options for baseball fans to sink their teeth into. This year is no different. The Washington Nationals and Union Square Events are pleased to introduce the newest fanfare of sweet treats and good eats to Nationals Park, set to be unveiled during the Nationals' home opener this Thursday, April 12. New food options will be introduced at the four main eateries found along the Miller Lite Scoreboard Walk, giving fans another reason to chow down at Blue Smoke, Box Frites, Shake Shack and El Verano Taquería. At Blue Smoke, start the game off right with a hot, fried chicken sandwich. Or if you're into something a little lighter, enjoy a barbacoa or vegetarian folded Quesadilla at El Verano Taqueria. But I must admit, both of those food stands will have to take a back seat to the Box Frites, where Buffalo and BLT Hot Dogs, Sweet Frites and Fried Pies await. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard. Also during the Nationals' home opener, be sure to take part in "Eat for the Cycle," an in-house promotion that allows fans to fill their bellies while winning a nice prize as reward. Just visit any of the following eateries: Shake Shack, Blue Smoke, Box Frites and El Verano Taquería and pick up your "Eat for the Cycle" punch card. At each vendor, a bill of $7 or more will earn you a stamp on your card. Once you collect a stamp from all four eateries, you'll be able to claim your prize of a Nationals baseball hat and a sweet treat to cap the day off! Fans can also turn in their fully-stamped card for a chance to win the Grand Giveaway which includes four tickets to a select game later in the season, field passes to watch batting practice and dinner for four at the Union Square Events ballpark eatery of their choice. So get out to the ballpark this Thursday to welcome the Nationals home. Just be sure to swallow your food before you cheer.
