Orioles lineup vs. Jays

TORONTO – If the Orioles are going to gain a split of their four-game series against the Blue Jays, they’ll need to bounce back quickly from last night’s 10-inning walk-off loss.

Adley Rutschman is batting fourth as the designated hitter this afternoon after smacking his first major league home run and collecting his first two RBIs. He also doubled for his fourth multi-hit game.

Kyle Stowers is on the bench, with Ryan McKenna starting in left field.

Trey Mancini remains out of the lineup with swelling in his right hand.

Ryan Mountcastle has homered in consecutive games for the fifth time in his career. He’s hit 12 career homers against the Jays, most versus any opponent, and is batting .346 (38-for-110) with four doubles, 12 home runs, 21 RBIs and a 1.109 OPS in 28 games.

Tyler Wells earned his third victory Saturday and his second quality start in his last three outings by allowing three runs over six innings in Kansas City. He’s made six career relief appearances against the Blue Jays and surrendered eight runs and 11 hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Wells has pitched once at Rogers Centre and tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Orioles’ 22 road losses are the most in the American League and second in the majors behind the Reds (23).

Former Orioles first-round pick Kevin Gausman is 5-5 with a 2.67 ERA and 1.189 WHIP in 12 starts since signing a five-year, $110 million contract with the Jays. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight games.

This is Gausman’s first game against the Orioles since they traded him to the Braves at the 2018 deadline. Bruce Zimmermann, who started last night, came to Baltimore in the deal.

Toronto has won 15 of its last 20 games.

Thirteen of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s 16 home runs have traveled 400 feet or more. His single last night in the 10^th was his first career walk-off hit. He’s 13-for-27 with a double, three home runs and eight RBIs during a six-game hitting streak.

Matt Chapman has homered in consecutive games for the 16^th time in his career.

Teoscar Hernández’s 461-foot home run last night was the third-longest of his career.
