Phillies take first lead in series (Nats lose 3-2 in 10)

PHILADELPHIA - After the Nationals took 5-0 and 3-0 first inning leads to begin the series, the Phillies finally scored a run early in Sunday's finale.

In the second inning, Carlos Ruiz turned on a Gio Gonzalez 3-0 fastball and deposited the solo homer in the left field stands. Ruiz's second homer of the season gave the Phillies a 1-0 advantage. It was the first run Gonzalez had allowed this season.

Bryce Harper gray at bat.jpgBryce Harper had a two-out single to right field in the first. He was initially called safe at second base when he attempted to stretch it into a double. But after a video replay review, the call was overturned and the putout was center field to shortstop. The delay took approximately two minutes and 13 seconds.

Harper now has six hits in the series.

The Phillies lead 1-0 after three innings.

Update: Anthony Rendon hit a run-scoring single in the sixth to tie the game at 1-1. With runners on second and third, a grounder by Harper up the middle was corralled by shortstop Freddy Galvis, who threw him out on a close play at first to end the inning.

The Nationals challenged the play and the call was confirmed on video replay review. The estimated time of the delay was one minute and 14 seconds.

The Nationals and the Phillies are tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

Update II: Gonzalez goes seven innings, allowing just four hits, one of them a solo homer, two walks and he struck out eight batters. Gonzalez fired 100 pitches, 60 for strikes.

Game tied 1-1 after seven innings.

Update III: The Phillies had a chance in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, pinch-hitter Ryan Howard lined a deep drive to right field off of Blake Treinen that was caught by Harper on the warning track.

Extra innings at Citizens Bank Park with the game knotted at 1-1.

Update IV: Harper slammed a solo shot in the 10th to give the Nationals a 2-1 lead.

But Jonathan Papelbon blew the save opportunity in the bottom of the 10th and then lost the game.

Andres Blanco tied the game 2-2 on an RBI single to left. Then Galvis won it with an RBI double to left.
