Yard Work: Episode 4

Hey, O's fans! Welcome to the latest installment of Yard Work. On this week's episode ...

Last weekend it seemed like the hearts of Orioles fans were filled with despair and disgust. A three-game series in the Bronx was full of drama and heartache, most notably the team's collapse Friday during the series opener. Still, it was foolish to think any team was going to win every series. It's a long season and pitfalls happen. But what did this past weekend's series say about the Orioles - and the rival Yankees? Steve Melewski and I will discuss.

On the plus side, Dylan Bundy continues to get better. His ERA is below 2.00 and he's established himself as the top pitcher on the O's staff. One reason he's been so good is his ability to use his secondary pitches, namely a slider that's become incredibly dangerous to opposing hitters. Is Bundy's slider the best pitch the O's have to offer? Or does Zach Britton's sinker still lead the way?

And as the calendar turns to May, the Orioles are beginning to welcome back some players who have nursed their way back to health. Joey Rickard joined the team last Friday in New York, while Britton rejoined the team in Boston. Is Chris Tillman next? We'll have the latest on the Orioles starter.

Finally, as crazy as it seems, All-Star ballots were released this week. It's only one month into the season, but voting has begun. Who from the Orioles is most likely to earn a spot in Miami? Let the debate begin.
