MINNEAPOLIS - The weather has forced the Orioles into some major adjustments in their schedule.
Last night's postponed game will be played at 7:10 p.m. ET on July 28 at Target Field. The Twins allowed the Orioles to pick the starting time, since they're coming from Baltimore following a night game against the Rockies and flying out to Toronto after the one-game "series."
Manager Buck Showalter appreciated the gesture, which no longer is common in baseball.
Also, the April 9 postponed game...
MINNEAPOLIS - The Orioles are going with the same lineup tonight as the one intended for last night before the series opener against the Twins was postponed due to inclement weather.
Joey Rickard remains in left field and Mark Trumbo is in right.
Manny Machado is at shortstop and Ryan Flaherty is starting at third base.

MINNEAPOLIS - The tarp stayed on the field last night, a game postponed without a drop of rain falling for hours.
Maybe it's a new trend in baseball, a forecast fad where storms are anticipated and action is taken and off days are lost for no apparent reason.
I sat in my hotel room in Arlington, Tx. on April 9, listening to birds chirp outside my window as the sun broke through the clouds. I should have been covering a game, but it was postponed before I got out of bed.
Orioles manager Buck...
MINNEAPOLIS - We were in a rain delay without the rain until the Twins made the announcement a few minutes ago that tonight's game with the Orioles has been postponed due to pending storms.
The game will be made up on July 28 before the Orioles head to Toronto for a three-game series. Another off day is lost.
This is the Orioles' fourth postponement. They also have a one-game "series" in Texas on June 20.
No makeup date has been announced for the April 9 game against the Rays at Camden...
MINNEAPOLIS - The Orioles still don't have a starter named for Wednesday afternoon's game against the Twins at Target Field.
Vance Worley figures to get the ball if he isn't used in relief tonight or Tuesday. He hasn't been told that he's starting and manager Buck Showalter can't make the commitment without knowing how far he'll dig into his bullpen during the first two games of the series.
Worley went 1-5 with a 7.21 ERA and 1.993 WHIP in 10 starts with the Twins spanning 48 2/3 innings...
MINNEAPOLIS - Yovani Gallardo's shoulder has improved to the point where he's ready to pick up a ball Saturday for the first time since going on the disabled list.
Gallardo will play catch at Camden Yards, a significant development following his cortisone injection and the implementation of a cuff exercise program.
"Right now, we're shooting for Saturday," he said. "That's the plan. Obviously, things can change but that's what we're shooting for.
"I'm just excited to go out there and...
MINNEAPOLIS - No real surprises in the Orioles' lineup for tonight's series opener against the Twins at rainy Target Field.
Rule 5 pick Joey Rickard is leading off and playing left field. Manny Machado stays at shortstop and Ryan Flaherty stays at third base.
A win tonight would put the Orioles seven games above .500 to match their season high. They won their first seven games.
The Twins' 4.71 ERA ranks last in the American League.

MINNEAPOLIS - Right-hander Scott McGough has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles made the announcement this afternoon.
The Orioles designated McGough for assignment on Saturday to create a spot for infielder Paul Janish on the 40-man roster.
McGough, 26, went a combined 0-1 with a 12.96 ERA in 8 1/3 innings between Triple-A New Orleans and Norfolk. The Orioles claimed him off waivers from the Marlins on April 15.
McGough allowed eight runs and seven hits in 5...
The Orioles are embarking on a short road trip to Minnesota - two night games, one day game, one flight home.
More payback time?
They went 0-7 against the Twins last season, in case the wounds closed and you forgot about them. The four-game sweep in August at Camden Yards was killer, starting with a 15-2 thrashing and continuing with three straight one-run losses, the last in 12 innings.
The teams met in the opening series of 2016 and the Orioles won all three games by scores of 3-2, 4-2 and...
The sun was shining this afternoon at Camden Yards, with a first-pitch temperature of 68 degrees. The stands were nearly full, the festive atmosphere spiked by a Mother's Day celebration.
Baseball weather had arrived, with rain leaving the forecast after a prolonged and unwanted stay, and manager Buck Showalter didn't want his team's performance to dampen the mood.
The Orioles fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning before showering the Athletics with home runs - a season-high six of...
The Orioles maintained their macho image today while replacing orange with pink.
Real men are secure in their masculinity and mashing ability. They also appreciate and support the cause.
Five home runs were hit in the first four innings and Manny Machado added his third career grand slam in the eighth, Chris Tillman blanked the Athletics after surrendering three runs in the opening frame, and the Orioles took the series with a 11-3 victory before an announced crowd of 43,690 at Camden...
There isn't much news to report from this morning's clubhouse access and media session with manager Buck Showalter.
The Jimmy Paredes updates have grown tiresome because there's no advancement. He's on an injury rehab assignment at Double-A Bowie that runs through May 15. The Orioles don't have a logical spot for him on a 25-man roster that includes Hyun Soo Kim and Pedro Alvarez.
Paredes is available if there's a team that matches up. In the meantime, he's 8-for-32 with Bowie, including...

Can Chris Tillman extend his streak of quality starts to four?
Tillman closes out the series and the homestand with his ERA down to 2.81. He's allowed three runs in his last 19 2/3 innings.
Tillman is coming off back-to-back nine-strikeout games to tie his career high.
In five career starts against the Athletics, Tillman has gone 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.063 WHIP in 32 innings. The current group is batting .203 against him.

If a tie is like kissing your sister, what's splitting a doubleheader?
The Orioles did it today, winning the nightcap 5-2 before 29,862 at Camden Yards.
The good Ubaldo Jimenez showed up tonight. He held the Athletics to two runs over eight innings, scattering nine hits along the way and walking only one batter. He struck out the side in the eighth and left to a standing ovation.
Jimenez matched the Orioles' longest start of the season and lowered his ERA from 5.20 to 4.54 in 35 2/3...
Chris Davis remains in the lineup tonight for Game 2 of the Orioles' doubleheader after going 0-for-3 and being hit by a pitch in the opener.
Davis probably would make a "contact" joke at his own expense. He's been scuffling at the plate, going 0-for-14 in his last four games and 1-for-18 in his last five to lower his average to .204
Though he didn't strike out today, Davis had whiffed eight times in the previous four games. He's hit one home run since April 23.
Davis continues to receive...
Manny Machado has moved from third base to shortstop for Game 2 of today's doubleheader against the Athletics. Ryan Flaherty is starting at third base.
Machado, Adam Jones, Chris Davis, Mark Trumbo and Jonathan Schoop are pulling double duty.
Hyun Soo Kim is batting second tonight, his highest spot in the order since signing with the Orioles.

Left-hander T.J. McFarland, optioned to Triple-A Norfolk this morning to create room for infielder Paul Janish on the 25-man roster, has been "recalled" and will serve as 26th man for Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Athletics.
McFarland will be sent down after the final out.
The Orioles can hope only for a split of the doubleheader. Breaking even after some bad breaks in Game 1.
Mike Wright allowed 10 hits in five-plus innings, but not many balls were hit hard in an 8-4 loss. It's a...
Mike Wright was handed the ball for Game 1 of today's doubleheader against the Athletics, moving ahead of Ubaldo Jimenez, whose start last night was washed away by rain.
Jimenez is starting Game 2, a decision that came down to a couple of factors.
"It could go either way," said manager Buck Showalter. "I've found through the years young pitchers waiting around until 7 o'clock, some of the, not anxiety, but Mike had that kind of work day inning in between and I want to get him out there as...
The Orioles have optioned reliever T.J. McFarland to Triple-A Norfolk to make room for infielder Paul Janish on the 40-man roster.
McFarland could stay and serve as the 26th man in Game 2 before reporting to the Tides. We'll see how it plays out.
The 26th man must return to the minors after the nightcap.
McFarland is 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA in eight relief appearances this season. He threw five scoreless innings on April 22 in Kansas City.
In his last outing, McFarland was charged with three runs...
