Both Jim Callis of Baseball America and ESPN’s Keith Law project the Orioles will take Oklahoma high school pitcher Dylan Bundy in their latest mock drafts.

Callis has Pittsburgh…So will the Orioles take a position player or pitcher with the fourth pick in round one of the June 6 First-Year Player Draft? Will they take Bobby Bundy’s brother or perhaps will Anthony Rendon fall to the Orioles at number four?

Both Jim Callis of Baseball America and ESPN’s Keith Law project the Orioles will take Oklahoma high school pitcher Dylan Bundy in their latest mock drafts.

Callis has Pittsburgh taking Rendon, Seattle taking high school outfielder Bubba Starling and Arizona picking Virginia lefty Danny Hultzen with the top picks.

Law has Pittsburgh taking Hultzen with Rendon going to Seattle and Arizona taking UCLA pitcher Trevor Bauer with the third pick just ahead of the Orioles’ selection.

Bundy’s brother Bobby was drafted by the Orioles in round eight of the 2008 draft, and he is having a real solid year for Single-A Frederick.

Dylan Bundy is an 18-year-old right-hander that scouting reports say has a fastball between 94 and 97. He also throws a curve, cut fastball and changeup. Callis said he rates Bundy ahead of Jameson Taillon, the high school pitcher that was taken second in the draft last year by the Pirates.

I have heard some fans say the Orioles should not take a high school pitcher because of Matt Hobgood’s injury and slow development to this point. I don’t agree at all. If the O’s feel Bundy is the best option when they select, they should take him and I expect they will, if they see him as the guy when they pick.
