O's game blog: Trying to keep it rolling in Game 2 against Toronto

After scoring 11 runs in back-to-back games, the Orioles now have a five-game winning streak and have outscored their opponents 37-15 in that span. They are now 42-24 for the year and four games behind Tampa Bay for first place in the American League East.

The Rays (48-22, .686) have the best record in the majors and the Orioles are now No. 2. Their .636 win percentage would produce 103 wins over a full year of 162 games.

Their longest win streak of the season is seven in a row from April 16-24. The Orioles are 21-12 at both home and on the road. They are now 16-6 in series-opening games.

The Orioles have gone 4-0 against Toronto this season by a combined 31-15 score, and are 13-10 against them since the start of 2022.

Gunnar Henderson went 3-for-5 in Tuesday’s 11-6 win over Toronto and is now batting .246/.355/.475/.830 with an OPS+ of 130, which is 30 percent above league average.

He has four straight multi-hit games, going 11-for-18 in that span with a double, three homers and eight RBIs. This four-game span alone has raised his OPS from .732 to .831. He has hit three homers his last three games, four in five games and five over his last eight games.

Second baseman Adam Frazier recorded his 800th career hit on a 391-foot two-run home run in the second inning last night. He now has eight home runs through his first 64 games and owns a 26.5 AB/HR ratio after hitting three home runs in 156 games with Seattle last year for a 180.3 AB/HR ratio. His single-season career high is 10 home runs in both 2018 and 2019 with the Pirates.

First baseman Ryan O’Hearn slugged his fifth homer of the season in the third inning, a two-run blast. He has homered in back-to-back games for the second time this year (also: 5/16-20).

Center fielder Aaron Hicks hit his third homer of the year and second as an Oriole in the fifth inning, a 368-foot solo blast; he has reached base safely in all 11 games since joining the O’s (12 hits, eight walks). This marks his longest on-base streak since a 12-gamer from Sept. 5-18, 2020 with the New York Yankees.

The Orioles have scored 22 runs in two games, 37 in the past five and 69 runs in the last dozen games, scoring six or more seven times in that stretch.

The Orioles are 8-4 since Cedric Mullins got hurt.

Tonight, right-hander Kyle Bradish (2-2, 4.25 ERA) will make his 12th start, and the Orioles are 7-4 in the first 11. He pitched to a 2.76 ERA in five games in May, but he has allowed six runs in nine innings in his past two games against San Francisco and Milwaukee.

Bradish went 0-2 with a 6.95 ERA in five games in 2022 against Toronto. In 16 career games versus AL East teams, he is 0-8 with a 7.86 ERA and .941 OPS against.

Berríos is unbeaten in 12 career starts against the Orioles, going 9-0 with a 2.92 ERA and 1.117 WHIP. In four 2022 starts, he was 3-0 with a 2.88 ERA against Baltimore.
