BOWIE, Md. - In his first minor league at-bat since May 23, 2009, Vladimir Guerrero lined a single to left here tonight in the first inning on a 1-0 pitch for the Double-A Bowie Baysox.
Guerrero has been on the disabled list with a fractured right wrist and could return to the Orioles soon. He is batting .279 with seven homers and 31 RBIs on the year for the Orioles.
Guerrero is the DH and batting second in the Bowie lineup. Before he hit, Cesar Izturis led off and grounded out on a 1-1 pitch...
BOWIE, Md. - In his first game since July 10 at Boston, Vladimir Guerrero is 1-for-3 tonight here at Prince George's Stadium for the Double-A Bowie Baysox against Trenton.
He and Cesar Izturis are playing for Bowie on injury-rehab assignments. They could soon return to the Orioles, possibly as early as Tuesday at Toronto.
Guerrero grounded out to short in the fifth after he lined a single to left in the first and then lined out to right an inning later.

BOWIE, Md. - He hasn't played in a major league game since May 12, but Cesar Izturis is just about ready to return to the Orioles.
He will play in his third game here tonight on his injury-rehab assignment, batting first and playing shortstop for Double-A Bowie against Trenton at 6:05 p.m.
Izturis went on the disabled list on May 18, retroactive to May 13, with a right elbow ulnar nerve injury. He had an operation on May 24. He had a hard time throwing before the procedure, but pronounces...
The Orioles have trimmed a three-run deficit to one run in the sixth inning with one huge swing from Adam Jones.
Nick Markakis singled with two outs, and Jones followed with a shot to center field that almost hit the batter's eye. Estimated distance: 446 feet.
Jones has homered in back-to-back games, raising his total to 18. He leads the club with 60 RBIs.
Angels starter Tyler Chatwood hadn't allowed a home run in his last six starts. He won't forget this one.
Chatwood has never gone...
I don't have much information to pass along from manager Buck Showalter's pregame session with the media. It's pretty calm around here.
Vladimir Guererro and Cesar Izturis will be in Double-A Bowie's lineup for its 6:05 p.m. game against the Trenton Thunder at Prince George's Stadium.
Both players could be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday, when the Orioles begin a three-game series in Toronto.
As for the corresponding roster moves, the Orioles are leaning toward sending down...
Adam Jones hit just .218 in April. But he got his offense really going in May and he wants to put the finishing touches on his best season yet in Baltimore in the season's final 65 games.
"I want to have a big second half," Jones said. "I was a little frustrated going into the break. This game is bigger than me. Just want to have the right attitude and try to have a big second half for the team."
He is now batting .284 with 17 homers and 58 RBIs. Jones' slugging percentage is up from...
It happened again today.
The Angels scored with two outs to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
Jeremy Guthrie retired the first two batters on fly balls to left field, but Torii Hunter doubled and Bobby Abreu followed with a single.
The Angels have scored nine runs in this series, all of them coming with two outs.
Guthrie had retired seven batters in a row, the last six on fly balls. Nick Markakis handled three of them in the second inning.
Hunter doubled off the center field...
Josh Bell is making his second consecutive start since being recalled yesterday from Triple-A Norfolk.
For the Orioles:
J.J. Hardy SS
Nick Markakis RF
Adam Jones CF
Mark Reynolds 3B
Matt Wieters C
Derrek Lee 1B
Nolan Reimold LF
Josh Bell DH
Robert Andino 2B
Jeremy Guthrie RHP
Just minutes after he picked up just his second win of the year, Brad Bergesen was passing around credit to his teammates.
Adam Jones talks about his two-RBI game as the O's defeat the Angels 3-2
"I think Craig Tatum throwing out those guys tonight was huge for me. You get a guy on and you find those little breaks and he came up huge twice tonight and Reynolds made a couple of big plays," he said after the Orioles' 3-2 win over Los Angeles.
Bergesen gave up just two runs and six hits...
Manager Buck Showalter spoke after tonight's 3-2 victory about the importance of Brad Bergesen keeping the deficit at two runs after Vernon Wells' homer in the first. The game could have gotten away from Bergesen and the Orioles, but they rallied.
Buck Showalter meets with the media after the O's pick up the 3-2 win over the Angels
"You see a lot of guys just let it snowball, but he didn't," Showalter said. "Pitched out of a tough jam there, first and second, nobody out. Showed a...
Jim Johnson threw seven pitches in a scoreless seventh inning.
Koji Uehara threw nine pitches in a perfect eighth, getting a fly ball, pop up and strikeout.
The baton is being passed again in a one-run game. Kevin Gregg is warming in the bullpen.
Manager Buck Showalter will go with his closer, one night after Gregg served up Vernon Wells' grand slam.
Gregg has allowed runs in four of his last five outings, though the four last night were unearned after Derrek Lee's error.
Let's see...
The Orioles kept putting runners on base against Angels starter Joel Pineiro. They could only waste so many opportunities.
Robert Andino and Craig Tatum singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Andino hustled to third base on J.J. Hardy's fly ball, and he scored the tying run on Nick Markakis' single.
Adam Jones followed with a sacrifice fly, his second RBI of the night.
Orioles 3, Angels 2.
Markakis was 0-for-13 before his single. He grounded into a double play to end a threat in the...
Adam Jones hit another homer for the Orioles tonight. His solo shot in the last of the fourth cut the Los Angeles lead to 2-1. It was his 17th of the year and maybe the one that traveled the shortest distance.
Jones crushed a liner down the left-field line that just made it into the stands, 338 feet from home plate.
He likes to homer at home and now has hit 14 of his 17 on the season at Camden Yards, where Jones has an OPS of .903 compared to .666 on the road.
By month, Jones hit five homers...
Brad Bergesen took the mound tonight with just one win all year over 10 starts and 18 appearances.
Then, he went out and picked up No. 2.
Bergesen, with some help, pitched the Orioles to a 3-2 win over Los Angeles in front of 20,311 Saturday night at Camden Yards.
He entered with a 1-6 record and 5.74 ERA in his 10 starts on the season but picked up his first win since May 14 when he shutout Tampa Bay. Bergesen gave up six hits and two runs over six innings, throwing 79 pitches.

We have a change in the Orioles lineup.
Josh Bell and Mark Reynolds have changed roles. Bell will serve as the designated hitter, and Reynolds will play third base.
Reynolds approached manager Buck Showalter during batting practice and asked to stay in the field.
Reynolds said he's never been a DH and worried that it would be more difficult to stay in the flow of the game.
Their places in the order remain the same. Reynolds is batting fourth and Bell is hitting seventh.
Josh Bell got a single for the Orioles as a pinch hitter in Monday's game and then actually played an inning in left field. It was his only day here as he briefly replaced Alfredo Simon on the Orioles' roster in what turned out to be a one-day appearance.
He then took a day or two off and had time to have two wisdom teeth pulled before reporting back to Triple-A.
Now he is right back with the Orioles, taking Luke Scott's roster spot. He's in tonight's starting lineup, serving as the DH...
The Orioles have scored one run since Tuesday.
This is a problem.
It's also due to an off-day on Thursday, but still ...
They also have five hits in their last two games.
The rotation looks a lot better, however. And isn't that typical of the Orioles? They have four quality starts in their last six games, and the offense has taken a powder.
The starters have completed six or more innings in six of the last 23 games. That's actually an improvement.
I've written plenty about Luke Scott...
We've completed one inning and the Orioles already trail the Angels 2-0.
Vernon Wells followed up last night's grand slam with a two-run shot off Orioles starter Brad Bergesen.
Bergesen got a double play from Torii Hunter after Erick Aybar's leadoff single, but he walked Bobby Abreu.
A two-out walk. Never good.
Bergesen got ahead of Wells 0-2 and tried to sneak a 92 mph fastball past him. It didn't work. He got too much of the plate, and Wells got too much of the ball.
The Angels...
Luke Scott confirmed today that his season is over. He has been placed back on the disabled list after going 0-for-3 last night and he said he will not play anymore in 2011 due a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
"Yeah, there is nothing I can do," Scott said. "It will not heal on its own. I've been playing with it since the beginning of May. May 2 is the day it began really throbbing. I battled through it. I'm not helping the team out by going out there and swinging with my bat under...
You're already caught up on the latest with Vladimir Guerrero, who is taking live batting practice today and will serve as the designated hitter tomorrow at Double-A Bowie.
Also, Luke Scott will get a second opinion on his right shoulder from renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews in Alabama. No appointment has been set, but Scott expects to visit Andrews next week.
Nolan Reimold would have pinch hit for Scott in the ninth inning last night if the game continued.
I wrote about the long...
